Students chasing the VC |
A violent protest erupted at the Lagos State University as students disrupted the second semester examinations taking place in the campus to make their grievances known over the hike in school fees from N25,000 to N250,000 per session known.
Trouble started when the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Obafunwa ordered that the registration portal should be closed to students who hadn't paid up their fees.
After several meetings with the VC to come to an amicable agreement, he insisted that the portal remains shut, thereby meaning that majority of the students who weren't able to register will have to carry over the courses.
A decision which infuriated the already angry students who went on a rampage destroying properties and throwing stones and sticks at the VC's convoy as he made attempt to escape.
